Week 8- Grammar.

Food's Grammar.

Teachers: Daniel Reyes, Astrid Cruz, Xenia Guillén (me).

We are almost finish course, now everything has change, most of the kinds left this project. Maybe it is a little difficult to give the class but anyways we have to. This time we were in charge to developed the grammar class. In our class there were just 3 students maybe was because of the weather that this week's was not the perfect factor. However we developed our class. We were teaching "Are they?" "Is it?" and the answer "They are" "It is". This class was difficult to teach more than what I thought. Every practice we learn something new. For example in this class we learn all of things. 

Things I like about the class: 

• The Wrap up activity the kids enjoyed the activity.
• Students could remember all the vocabulary.
• Child were able to make the practice activity.
• This time the zise of the pictures was big.
• Practice Activities.
• Decoration.
• Good attitude.
• Self confidence.
• When I put the desk close to each other was more easy to monitoring and also the students were more focused in the class.

Things I do not like about the class:

• The grammar explication wasn't clear.
• Grammar mistakes.
• Pronunciation mistakes (me).
• Spelling mistakes (me)
• Kids don't want to help in the production activity.
• Astrid attitude when the students were doing the production activity.
• The class ended a 5 minute after the 2:30 PM.
• The kids get borred and they wanted to go to the bathroom in the production activity.
• We do not clear the board.

Things to improve: 

• The grammar explanation, more clear. 
• Try to be carefully with spelling and grammar mistakes.
• If the students do not want to participate live alone the kid, we  can not force them.
• If the activities we planing wasn't enough try to improvise and do more activities.
• Motivate the students to participate.
• Control feelings at the moment students deny to do something.
• Control of time.
• At the beginning of the class ask if they want to go to the bathroom.
• If we made a pronunciation or grammar mistake try to fixed as fast as we can.
• Be more organized in general.
• Not ignore the students when they are doing an activity.
• Monitoring every moment of the class.
• Clear the board when we finish our activities.

Week 7- Reading

Professions' reading.

Teachers: Paola Alvarenga, Lidia Artiga and Saraí Ramirez.

Hello, I am here again to talk about the second class of Paola, Lidia and Saraí this time they were teaching a PDP class, a reading class as everybody know for all of us is more difficult developed a PDP class than a POP class but anyways we have to try to do our best in every class no matter what, at the beginning was challenging for the teacher becouse of the weather just came two students so we did the role of students and we are in another level and we are more  demanding but let's talk about Saraí Performance although she have to give us the class she did very good, very creative activities and a good performance,  she was very kind, she was very self confidence, good tone of voice and also she knew what to do, she knew how distribute the teams' activities.

Paola's performance was exelent and very interesting, she did a very good job becouse she developed the 3 durings and that's all of work, she give good and clear activities, clear and short instructions, she  catch atention's kids and also she know how to deal with all the work. Their activities were creative and also unic. I have never seen something like that, she was monitoring and she was looking if the students were doing the job.

In the of the class Lidia was in charge of developed the post during part, her permomance was exelent, I remember the last time she teach she was very sweet and her tone of voice was a little bit lower but this time she was sweet but rude at the same time with good tone of voice, she was calm and relax  even though she did have much time, in this activity she explain a new expression to say their dream profession.

Things I liked about the class: 

• Very creative activities.
• Great tone of voice.
• They took the role of teachers very serious.
• Clear and short activities.
• They were calm.
• They knew what to do in every minutes.
• They were self confidence.
• They were always saying "exelent, good job, great"
• They were teaching two differents skills listening-reading.
• Puzzle activity.

This I don't liked about the class:

• The draw activity.
• They did not ask if the students wanted to go to the batroom at the beggining of the class.
• Kids were talking.
• They give all of new vocavulary.
• Students did not have the change of coppy or repeat the vocabulary.

Things I would change.

• Don't ask for sit an stand up if is not necessary.
• Ask for silence when the students were talking.
• Don't make draw activities.
• Give more time to repeat and internalize the knew vocabulary.
• Tried to be more organize with time.

They did a very good job, we always have things to improve and things to change but with time, experience and practice we will have less things to improve, we learn new things everyday and we have to put in practice new things.

Week 6- vocabulary

Professions' Vocabulary.

Hello everybody, today  I'm talking about my first time giving a vocabulary class, in my opinión this was an amazing class but because is my class or something like that I think this class was amazing for different factors, we as teachers always have things to improve and problems to solve but in our second time the things to improve and to solve were less than the first time we were teaching, by my own experience I can say that teaching a PDP class is harvest than a PPP class but anyways we have to learn to teach both because both are importants to students' learning.  AS I alredy say this was my second time giving class but the first time developing a PPP class, for me this class was a different experience and a better opportunity to do the activities and of course to interact with the students. I constantly say "repeat after me" but I use this technique becosuse for me work well I can hear if the students are pronouncing in the correct way and help me to se who is doing and who is not doing the activity. I'm sorry if someone get bored of heard that but as I alredy say for me this technique really works.

In this class we were teaching professions' vocabulary, at the begging of the class was not difficult to break the ice with the students, I started on time even if just 4 students were in the classroom over all the warm up activity was really nice the students could remember the structure and vocavulary of the last classes also they learn two new words "hot and cold". Then I started to show the flashcards and ask of they know the name of the profession the students knew just 3 of the 10 words so meantime I was showing the flashcards I was saying the name in Spanish and English and then I make them to repeat after me, the I put the flashcards and the name of the profession in the board and the students repeat around 3 times then I give a little time to coppy the vocabulary, in all that crosses more students came to the class and didn't know what we were doing so I explain again what they have to do and make them repeat again.  Also I explained the question "What are your favorites professions" and "my favorites professions are..." in that way they will know how to have a short conversation about that. 

Daniel's performance was really nice, his tone of voice was acording to the class, we was modeling and he used exelent materials to the activities, the first activity he played was a matching activity in the board , I could see that the students were so motivated to participate in this activity and they were helping to the ones who were doing wrong, they were focous and the most important thing they were analyzing and thinking carefully in the vocabulary just one or two students get wrong. Second activity, the soup of letters was a incredible activity was difficult to do and to found all the words but they did it, they found all the vocabulary they were focous in their soup of letters, it is true that this activity take more time than others activities but was effective, Daniel was modeling in each activity because of that the students didn't have problems to do any of the activities, the third activity memory game this game was attractive to the students and and the students use the memory could remember the numbers and also they were competing with the other group. 

Astrid's performance I really liked the way she explain the role play activity asking for help to teacher Daniel to show how they have to do the role play as I alredy say modeling is so important if you are modeling in a class everything will be easier. She was constantly monitoring if the students were doing the activity almost everybody was confused so she tried to explain group by group and then she pass them in fort to do the role play, some students were playing and speaking and she stopped that, I really love it. Then the activity of throw the ball to the imagen and say the word was awesome the students could remember all the words we teach, for us that was amazing. 

Things I liked about the class:

• Modeling.
• Monitoring.
• Tone of voice.
• Use of the material.
• We started at time 
• We could developed all the lesson plan.
• The students were focous in all the class.
• The students were motived to participed.
• Was not difficult remember vocabulary and structure.
•  Teacher's perfomance.
• Astrid correct the students after they have finishthe activity.

Things I do not liked about the class:

• Small pictures (even if we found a solutions was a problem)
• We took to more minutes of class.
• Students were talking.
• Confusion of some words.
• Students forgot the answer "my favorites professions are..."
• In the beginning of the class we ask if someone wanted to go the batroom and no one said that wanted to go and then around 5 minutos later a boy wanted to go to the batroom.
• We forgot put our names in a paper (sorry no one realized about it but I know was not okay) 

Things to improve:

• How to give instructions.
• Be carefully with  time to finish the class.
• Observation.
• To make the students play attention to their classmates.
• Production's monitoring.
• Carefully with the words we use.
• Put away the material we will not use after finish an activity (wram up).

To sum up, the class was competed, the objective was competed and we as teachers were more relax than the first time, I enjoyed to teach to the kids. At the end everything was okay and I really like this class, we tried to do it better I think we did it. Thanks for al the people that observe the class and give feedback and as alredy say this was an amazing class!

Week 5- Reading

Zoo animals´reading 

Teachers: Karla Jovel, Marisol Lozano, Kevin Alas.

Hello,  we are in the week number 5, students have alredy recived two listening and reading class, from own  experience I can say that these skills are not easy to teach even though these skills are important in the  students´ learning. this reading class was so interesting, creative and funny, the students learn all of things without problem.

I really love the way Karla started the class and I could noticed that she was really calm and confortable with the things she was doing I really love that she did a very good and short review at the same time she emphasized in the students pronunciation of vocabulary and gramar structure already learned, I love the puzzle activity was esay and funny to the kids, also I like the fact that she introduce the new vocabulaty esasely, and she did a very good job because she catch the attention of all of the kids she did not have the necessity of change of position to the students or say "play attention to me". Then I really like the idea of make the kids sit in the floor and read the paragraph individual and then as a group. In addiction to this the activity of order events was exelent simple and easy to do, last but not at least I love the way Kevin was modeling, giving examples and monitoring the whole class.

The class was amazing but there are some details I do not like, as I alredy say Karla did an amazing joob but her tone of voice this time was a little bit lower than the first time also in the warm up activity she must ask to the kids for the vocabulary and structure they alredy knew it, another thing I do not like in Marisol's performance is the way she give instructions to the kids she started an activity she noticed that the kids were doing another thing but she did not do something about it, also I notice she was nervous and in the order events activity she forgot to paste one of the pieces of papers so in the moment of the activity she notice and basicly give the answer to the kid in addiction to this I don't like the way the pictures was exposed to the kids. About Kevin I just want to say he tried to complish the objective so he avoid a during and that was a big mistake becouse we have to remember that during stage is the most important part in a reading class.

Things to improve:

• Try to be more organize with time.
• Give clear and understandable intructions.
• Tone of voice.
• Make shure if all the materials are ready to be used. 
• Monitoring if the students are doing in the correct way the activities.
• Modeling (not everybody).
• Be self confidence .
• Don't leave the kids working alone.
• Focus in those students that are always talking and playing in class.
• Make shure if all the during stage were complete.

Now, in moment to show the pictures to see if tge students catch the main topic the activity was ok, but if the pictures are pasted in the board is easier than have all the pictures in our hands, another important thing is that if in our lesson plan say "pair work" and a kid is alone we have to forget about the lesson plan and integrate him/ her into a couple, give instructions in a simple way and make shure if the instructions was clear by monitoring, if we see that the kids are not doing what you said there are two ways to fix it, the first one: when we are monitoring explain again tge activity to the students, the second option is stop everything and explain again to everybody and of course modeling because sometimes the students don't understand what you are saying but if they see they will coppy the action you did. Finally we have to be careful with time by own experience I know is difficult but is not impossible remember that our classmates deserve the same time as you. 

Finally, I learn that is not the same wrote a lesson plan than make it real, the experience help to the teachers to do it better than the first time, the creativity is important not matter if the class is hard to teach or let's say a serious class, the kids can learn more than 15 word in a single class, monitoring is very important to check if the objective of the activity is being complish also I learn that is more important the things you do than the things you say that was tge cease of Karla she did not have the necessity to ask for attention or something like that. The whole class was awesome, the teachers did a very good job.

Week 4- Grammar

Zoo Animals' grammar.

Teachers: Rebeca Beltetón,  Ariana Díaz, Federico Echegoyen.

Hello everybody today I am sharing the experience of the second class of grammar, this was an amazing class they were teaching "they are" and "It is". The teachers developed an exelent class. Lets start with the class, at the begging of the class I was impressed  the class start at time also because when Rebeca Start the class was not difficult for her break the ice maybe because was the second time that the kids saw a familiar face anyways Rebeca did an exelent job she give a little and fast review to the kids using the material they have paste in the walls all the time she was in front of the class she was modeling that really help to the kids to understand what Rebeca was saying, another thing that really help is the fact that she use all of material, visual material that catch up children's attention, the wram up activity was exelent the kids enjoyed every moment of the activity they were so motivated, when Rebeca ask for a volunteer the kids were so comfortable and they did not think twice to participate in the activity,  the objective of this activity was complete.

Suddenly she start with the introduction of the grammar lesson that is one of the most importats parts of the class she used papers pasted in the board to explain "they are" and "It is" she explain the difference between both expressions and she give clear examples, the kids were playing attention all the time they were so interested in what Rebeca was saying when she was giving the example for "It is" she used "a" but she took the time to explain what means "a" and then she give 3 minutes of the class to the kids to coppy the grammar structure and the examples that was exelent, all the time she was monitoring if the kids were coppyng after all she did another activity that help to see if the topic was clear, she give differents littles imagenes to the kids and then she ask to paste them in the correct place in the area of "they are" or "It is".

Ariana did the next activity, at the moment she start the class givin peaces of papers with differents words like "they" "are" "bears" "it" "is" "a" "monkey" then she ask them to pasted the papers in the board in the correct place, I consider that this activity was exelent because in this ways the teachers could see that they internalize the grammar structure some of the kids pasted the word in the incorrect place but I could observe that others classmates realize about that and they help each others, moreover she continued with her second activity giving  simple woorksheets to complete sentence with "they are" and "it is" this activity was according to the class the kids finish the activity very quickly I guess that they did this activity faster that the time expected. Something that ariana must improve is how she catch the attention of the kids in the begining the studensts lost the attention and started to talk and others things but with the time she was in front everything change, another thing is that in some moments she give instructions and look just a part of the class and the rest of the class was a little bit lost in what they had to do.

To finish the class Federico get into the role of teacher and he catch up children's attention quickly, he ask for children's favorite animal and then he explained the meaning of draw using modeling to have a good explanation, then he give clean papers to the students and ask to draw 3 favorite animals, he was monitoring the work of the kids all the time, he took enough time to make shure that every student did the activity which is good, then he give intrusctions to share with the partner next to them what they had been drawing, after all he did the last activity "memory game".

Things to improve: 

• Clap or speak louder when the kids are not playing atention to the teacher.
• At the moment of organize who will develop theactivities make shure that all the teachers have the same number of activities or the same work od the rest of the teachers. 
• Control the feelings.
• Try to look all the kids when you are giving instructions.
• Don't take all of time to do just an activity.
• In the production part try to do an activity acording to the skill that the teacher is developing for example give some zoo animals' pictures and ask to the students to describe what they see in the pictures in that way they will speak and practice the grammar instruction. 
• When the teacher finish the class give instructions to the kids to stay in the desk in that way give the snacks will be easier.

To sum up, this was an amazing class the students learn the difference between "they are" and "It is" and the use they have in English, the teachers did an exelent job they improve all of in comparison with the first time they past in front, nevertheless there are a little details to improve, thanks for being in front sharing your knowlege and at the same time sharing the experience with us.

Week 3 - Reading

Family members´ reading.

Teachers: Astrid Cruz, Daniel Reyes, Xenia Guillén (me).

Hello, Today I will sahre my experience as a teacher. the skill we were developing was reading, the reading was about family members. Talking about the class at the begining teacher astrid give an review about the last class her tone of voice and the way she did was correct she make the students repeat the words this is very important because of that for the students was esay to continue with the rest of the class. then she start with the warm up in this part of the class she did an activity called bingo, she give simple and short instructions at the same time she motived the students to play. this activity help to remeber the grammar and vocabulary class because she was saying a sentence using structure and vocabulaty of these classes and the most important thing the kids remembered and enjoyed the activity. I really love the way she introduce the new vocabulary using papers, modeling and saying the meaning of the new words and then she make the kids repeat the new vocabulay. ths help for the rest of the class, Astrid the unic thing that you must improve is spelling.

After that Daniel started with the next pre during activity tahat was really interesting an fun for the kids the activity was about found a gift down the desk in some desks the kids found a gift plus a word  then Danny ask about the meaning of the class the whole class help in this part becaouse some of the kids did not remember the mening so the others kids help this really help to internalize the new vocabulary the next activity an the most importants is the during Daniel give the paragraph to the kids and paste four pictures about differents pictures asking to the kids to scan the paragraph and then asking wich one of the pictures was the correct acording to the paragraph the kids answered well to this activity. Finally Daniel gave a worksheet to the children, in this activity the kids had to put in order the events after reading the whole paragraph.

To finish the class and complete the objective I give another woorsheet to the kids in thi part the kids had to read the paragraph for details answer the worksheet with true and false. for the time i give just 3 minuts to do it. Nevertheless the kids worked and did in 3 minuts then I had no time for askig about the answers they have so I was readins the execices and writing the answers even though I could see that most of the kids had the correct answers. Then I gave them intrutions to write 3 sentences using the paragraph as an example at the same time usind the structure and vocabulay of the last classes.  

 

In this class I could observe that some kids always were talking and talking just in some moments they played atention to the teacher, so I suggest to separate these kids for a good performance of the teacher and the students, I want to say tha we have to improve our organization specially in time because in this class we have that problem, I know that we could do it better I hope that the next class we will do it in a better way also I want to say thank you to my classmates Astrid and Daniel both did a very good job is a pleasure to be working with you guys.

Week 2- Grammar

Family members´ grammar

Teachers: Paola Alvarenga, Lidia Artiga and Saraí Ramirez. 

Hello eveyone, I want to share my second class in teaching practicum this time was about grammar and let me tell you that this class was amazing. The grammar lesson "he is" "she is" "they are" "who is he?" "who is she?" "who are they" was presented by Paola, Lidia and Saraí. In the beginig of the class Paola start with the wram up asking to the studens about the last topic, specially for vocabulary. this time the students remembered the vocabulary about the last class with a little help they could remember almost all the family members´ vocabulaty this is very important. Anyways as teachers we have to refresh the previous topic in this case vocabulary, Paola did an excellent job making her students perfectly remember the previous topic using pictures in the floor.I want to mention the fact that she knew how to introduce in a very creative way the grammatical structures  showing picures of family member, giving simple intructions and saying sentences using the differentes structures. I want to mention the fact that the poster with the structures that Paola had in the pizzara helped a lot for the understanding but she did not clarify the difference between "he, she and they" then at that point the students got a little confused. Something that I would also like to add is that Paola taught a simple and short song with the gramatiacles and vocabulary structures alredy mentioned, this helped a lot to identify the acquired knowledge and also the pronunciation.

Then the teacher Lidia continued with the activities first she give woerkseet to the students and then she took the time to paste a poster to model what the student must to do bur in that time the students start to work without instructions, at the moment to give instructions the kids did nor pay attention to her and the tone of her voice maybe was not the correct, remember that we as teachers  have to capture the attention of the students, another very important thing is that a part of the students were forgotten when she was giving the intructions she went to a specific group so the other students started playing and making noise. Afther that she took the time to check the work of every student and then ask to compare the exercices with their classmates. Moreover, she did another spectacular activity making two groups and  then she made them sit on the floor, giving instructions and then gave different colored pieces with words with them the children had to form a sentence, I want to emphasize the fact that we have to give the instructions before asking the children to get out of the seats to avoid a mess.

Finally Saraí, taking the role of teacher, was in charge of giving pages, small pictures of family members and glue that had a tree and ask to students to stick on the tree the members of the family that lived with the child after that she made working couples so that they could share the information of their family tree while using the vocabulary and structure learned, and again I want to mention the fact that we can not live alone a kid in the class, when Saraí did the couples live a kid workig alone and he was so sad and he could not do the activity, I notice about that and I tried to integrate the child into one of the couples nevertheless when teacher Saraí ask to that group to share what they had done, she left aside the child again.

In conclusion, it was a very interesting class full of learning, our classmates did an excellent job with some mistakes but we have to remember that it was their first time teaching and the first class of grammar at the same time, their decoration and use of materials was acording to the class, thank you very much to give an excellent class and above all to show us how we should develop as teachers in a class. I really love this class.

Week 1- Vocabulary

Vocabulary: numbers and colors. 

Teachers: Karla jovel ,Marisol ,Kevin Alas.

Hello, it is a pleasure to be sharing my experience observing one of the fist classes of teaching practicum. The teachers Karla, Kevin and Marisol were teaching this class about numbers and colors, the class was so interested. I really love this class for diferents reasons. one of the reasons is that the teacher took the time for each one of their students, time to check the exercises and explain in a short and good way, they use simple and good stuctures to give instrutions, their activities was so creative an understandble for childen wich is important, the organization they have another important thing  that Karla did very well was how she use the tone of her voice with the students this help her to caught the attention of the kids also she use material acording to the situation.

In the begining of the class for was difficult break the ice but in the proceses everythig chanche, I know is difficult start the class and is totally normal taking to account that children do not recive dialy classes as do not have the same teachers every day, that´s why it is difficult to remeber everything about the last topic and start socialazing with the new teachers. Another important thing that I notice that the kids worked faster than the teachers expected, nevertheless, they found the way to fill the time with more activities using different material they alredy had acting wise and proffesional actitud; thanks to this we in our future practice alredy know that we have to be prepared to differents escenes in the classroom, the kids must have all the atention of the teacher, the roll of the teacher is to be attentive all the time about the necessities of their students, it is hard to be attentive but we must be like that all the time in this class one of the kids wanted to go to the bathroom but the teacher did not noticed about that but one of our classmates did so she help, we as theacher and adults can not pull a child or push him because we can have serious consequences that´s why we have to avoid doing that, an efficient solution is to attract the atention of the child and model for him to do the activity that is being asked.
